The Roaring Northerners are Dave Stewart, John Hill and Iain Robertson; a loose affiliation of tabletop wargamers and figure painters who inhabit the frozen and somewhat soggy wastelands of west central Scotland. Shadowy and secretive, they stoically quest to reduce the scale of the lead mountain that threatens to engulf them all, and perhaps even find the time for the occasional game...

Introduction

Welcome to the Bobinantes Boreales blog, a rolling record (hopefully!) of the gaming and painting exploits of a loose affiliation of three gamers from the windswept wastelands of the North; John, Dave and myself (Iain).

No theme will be particularly evident, our tastes and interests are far too varied for that! Ranging from the sunbaked plains of ancient Greece, the mist-shrouded forests and dales of Saxon Britain and the glories of ancient Byzantium, past the bleak and desolate moors of the Anglo Scottish Wars, through the frozen expanses of The Great Northern War, the Canadian wilderness of the French and Indian Wars and the dusty fields of the Spanish Peninsula, to the muddy trenches of the Great War and even right up to the hypothetical battlefields of the Cold War and beyond, this should hopefully provide a varied and interesting source of eye candy to anyone with an interest in taletop gaming.

Some of you may have landed here from either The Guild or Lead Adventure, if not, you should really head on over there; both are great sites, packed with great displays of painting, after action reports and a wealth of knowledge on wargaming and military history.

Thanks for stopping by, hopefully some content should be online shortly!

Cheers
Iain
